I almost didn't buy Tiger Force Duke. I was about to buy a 3rd Cobra Disguise Flint, or another Pilot Scarlett. I picked him up anyway rationalizing that I could use his weapons and gear at the very least.
Then the wheels started turning. I ran out and bought two more of him. I loved the new arm sculpt and decided to try and change Version 1 Duke to match.
I cut his arms off at the sleeves. Sanded the stumps down. Dremeled a small hole. I then popped Tiger Force Duke's arms off and carefully cut around the pegs that hold the arms on. I then crazy glued them into the holes I made in the Original Duke and just popped the new arms on. They're solid and don't appear to be in danger of falling off or anything. Same range of motion is retained. I love how they came out.
I popped the smaller TF Duke head on and really liked how the figure was looking proportion-wise. The only thing bugging me still was that damn pocket on his thigh. Until something better comes out he'll just have to live with a backwards right thigh. I don't know how noticable it is to anyone else. It kind of bugs me a tiny bit but the removable holster I made hides it a little. I wanted to him to resemble the original figure more and I figured using the same green bandolier for the strap would make sense and match at least.
The holster itself is from the Comic Pack Luke that comes with Mara Jade. It and a few sections of the bandolier are glued together, but not glued to the leg itself so I can remove it if better parts come along. It just slides up and down if I move it, and sticks at the widest part of his thigh without falling down.
Last but not least, I liked how the TF Duke's red collar looked in contrast to the rest of the figure. It was very simple yet made me feel really nostalgic since it was just like the original. The first Duke always puzzled me since he seemed to be wearing two shirts and had that green collar sticking out, but curiosity won out, as I really wanted to see how he looked with the green collar.
Slapped some olive green on him, gave him the rifle, binoculars, backpack and helmet and was really impressed at how much better this figure looked with just a few small changes.
