Nothing is known about Shrapnel, not even his face; speculation is he's a military deserter who was attached to some very hi-tech R&D work when Cobra recruited him. Whatever the case may be, he knows how to pilot the Pulverizer like it was an extension of his own body, and that means trouble for anyone who gets in his path...an unfortunate fact Ghost Bear learned, though one he lived to tell the tale of.

What is known is Shrapnel's suit doubles both as a cooling unit/environmental suit and as protective body armor, the softer parts capable to resisting shrapnel and small arms rounds up to 5.56mm, while the hardened, ablative parts can withstand hits up to 7.62mm and possibly higher. His helmet comes with a built-in HUD and wireless communications, and with simple voice commands he can shift power and systems within the Pulverizer to meet the demands of battle. Nobody really wants to mess with this guy when he's in that Mech, and the Joes are just glad there's only one of him to mess with!
