Well, Saiban was a software specialist who lost his face in a Joe mission against Cobra gone wrong. Not only he lost his face, he also lost his girlfriend and job as a result too, cos' he was too scary and ugly for anyone. Right from then onwards his aim in life was to get his revenge on G.I. Joe, and eventually to destroy them just as they destroyed his life. He joined Cobra, trained as an explosive expert and has been hurting G.I. Joe ever since.
