Bio: Clutch was one of the first members of G.I. Joe, the driver of the team's Vehicle: Assault/Multi-Purpose, or VAMP jeep. He was also one of the last members to leave the Pit when the team was disbanded in 1994. Over the next decade, Clutch became known as the best mechanic on the NASCAR circuit, comforted and later, married, long-time friend and former teammate Shana O'Hara ("Scarlett") after her fiancee "Snake-Eyes" left her, raising Shana and Snake-Eyes' daughter as his own.

Clutch was one of the first former Joes to learn of Frontline's existance, even convincing the assistance chief of his pit crew, Fred "Fix-it" Jameson to join Frontline. For the next two years he occasionally provided his skill at repairing vehicles to help Fix-It keep Frontline mobile. When G.I. Joe as a whole was reinstated, Clutch was one of the first to re-up for the team.
