Bio: A young and frail Steve Rogers agrees to take part in Operation: Rebirth, a potentially fatal experiment whose hope is to use the Super-Soldier formula to develop the ideal soldier. Although the experiment was a success, the scientist-creator of the formula, Dr. Erskine, is killed by a Nazi assassin.

Steve Rogers becomes Captain America, and with his sidekick Bucky (and sometimes with the Invaders team) fights most of the war until an explosion of a prototype drone plane kills Bucky and casts Cap into the North Atlantic, where he becomes frozen in a block of ice. He would remain frozen for almost sixty years until G.I. Joe: Frontline would find and thaw him.
