Grand Slam is the test pilot for all of Joe's experimental battlefield technology in my re-booted Joeverse.

What Flash cooks up in the lab, GS is more than willing to strap on and take for a ride, walk, shoot or whatever, often making improvements to the design in the field.

Given their similar specs, I wanted GS to have a similar feel to my Flash custom, but to look less buttoned down and more ready for action.

Switch Gears' upper body just happened to be a perfect match for that criteria.
