Entire Figure: Flint

While Flint wasn't my favorite growing up, he was always likeable. As I got older, I really came to appreciate both the character and especially the figure. The figure came to embody to me the aesthetic of the RAH line... it is loaded with authentic detail while not being enslaved to realism. The US belt buckle, the Airborne badge, the rank epaulets, and the beret flash are all authentic details worn by real soldiers, even though he isn't even in an actual uniform. The designers even took the liberty of giving him a black beret rather than a green one (which is what it should be based on the flash.) Flint came out at a time when the line was at its peak, and the figures were loaded with these types of details.

This custom, a simple repaint, was basically an exercise in painting. I started painting his eyes, and then just started marveling at the folds of his shirt, the ridges of his belt, and cocky way the designer chose to sculpt his beret. I just had to paint it all, trying to bring out the detail.

The only problem is that he really doesn't even fit in with the rest of my collection anymore... I guess I'll just have to paint everyone!
