Storm Shadow left his Korean homelands in the late 90's to seek out the man with whom he had trained with for most of his life. He considered that man a brother. Storm Shadows travels led him around the globe . He would participate in local street fighting tournaments to earn money to his next destination. Eventually he travelled to the island nation of Cobra-La.

It is there that his journey both ended and began anew.

He had found his long lost "brother" working for the terrorist organization known as Cobra. Storm Shadow joined up with his "brother" and began a life of crime. He was rewarded with riches beyond his wildest imaginations.

However , on one mission to attack the G.I.Joe team , Storm Shadow was stabbed in the back by a traitor. The traitor, his "brother" had been working for the Joes all along. Storm Shadow survived the attack , but was fueled anew by vengence. He had been misled by the his own brother , who didn't even tell Storm Shadow his secret. That man , his "brother" , was none other than the man known as Snake Eyes !
