Character:

Jacques Lafleur was one of the MASK characters.

Design:

I finished my MASK customs a few years ago, but there were a few stinkers. I gave Gloria Baker and Cliff Dagger improved versions as I completed the process. But looking back on all of them, Mr. LaFleur was in needed of a better version, too. It was also my last MASK custom, and it should have been a more solid figure than it was. But the quality wasn't there, so I'm redoing it.

The parts here build a body roughly resembling Kenner's second JL figure, and I'm even going with the ridiculous Split Seconds paint deco too!

This is one of those customs that built itself as I made other figures. I noticed how the padding would be great for lots of shiny silver...

The alternate helmet/head is a Barbecue head with kibble added to it, not intended to look anything like the bird-themed MASK helmet. No embroidered puffy eagle on the sweater either.

Colors & Paint:

My first JL custom used the European Glider Strike (two tone green) color set. This time around, I'm going with the super crazy Detonator color set of black/silver/magenta. I'm ignoring the eagle/hawk motif of the Detonator figure's design entirely, but saw it as a good excuse to break out the Molotov chrome and have some fun on as many parts as I could chrome up.

It was also a chance to improve the Kenner figure's paint applications, which ignored the pouches/straps on the legs. I went with a slightly darker magenta to provide more contrast against the leg pouches/straps.

Magenta pants!

Sculpting & Modifying:

The center-parted hair was added to the head. The thigh screw insets were epoxied smooth.

Thanks for looking.
